  ANKARA – Turkish authorities on Saturday have confirmed [26] causalities after a magnitude [6.6] earthquake hit Turkey's Aegean region on Friday, destroying multiple buildings and houses in Izmir city.  The Turkey’s Disaster and Emergency Management Authority "AFAD" said the death from the earthquake in Turkey has risen to [24] people while the number of those injured to [804].  The quake occurred at [2.51] pm. local time at a depth of [16.54] kilometers around 10 miles. In Azmir city, more than [15] building have been destroyed in tremor. A rescue operation was launched soon after the calamity and is still underway to retrieve people feared to be trapped under the rubble.  Tremors were also felt in Istanbul while no any damage has been reported.   Chief of the Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa called on Prime Minister Imran Khan in Islamabad on Thursday and discussed "professional matters pertaining to Pakistan Army, internal and external security situation", said the Prime Minister's Office (PMO). The premier, while referring to "recent efforts to stoke violence in Pakistan", expressed the resolve that the entire nation was united "against the cowardly acts of the enemy", tweeted PMO.   ISLAMABAD – In his telephonic conversation with his Afghan counterpart [Mohammad Hanif Atmar], Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that Pakistan is desirous of a peaceful prosperous and stable Afghanistan. He said peace in Afghanistan is linked with peace and stability of region. Shah Mahmood Qureshi said intra Afghan dialogue provides an excellent opportunity for peace and the Afghan leadership must seize this opportunity.  He said it is imperative to make the intra afghan dialogue result oriented in order to realize the dream of durable peace in Afghanistan.   FAISALABAD – A prayer leader of a mosque located in [Gujjar Basti] area of the city allegedly sexually assaulted an eight year old boy.  According to police  the minor was assaulted by the cleric when he was sent by his parents to give food to the suspect  local media reported. The suspect fled the scene after committing the crime.  A case has been registered against the accused  which is still at large. 

  KARACHI – The [Sindh Agriculture Department] issued a new alert regarding the threat of a locust swarm descending on Sindh's crops on Monday. Locusts may invade coastal areas of Sindh and Balochistan; the notification said. United Nations subordinate Food and Agriculture Organisation had recommended an immediate survey and spray drive on the crops to avoid losses. Locusts likely to come from Indian Gujrat and Rajasthan region - Nara - Khipro - Chachro - Diplo - Badin and Jamshoro.areas are most vulnerable to this attack. Sindh Agriculture Minister Ismail Rahoo assert his department's teams were actively working to deal with the threat of the locust invasions  insisting that they had made all possible efforts and saved the crops of Sindh's farmers during the previous such invasion. The federal government should play its part in in this regard so that impoverished farmers did not suffer more losses, he added.
